Did you know that 3 billion plastic toothbrushes are produced and sold every year worldwide? Consider that nearly none are recycled, and that the packaging itself is also plastic, and it starts to become clear that this is a major source of plastic going to landfill. As always, Food Cycle KC is looking for ways to create a more ecologically sustainable lifestyle.
Replacing plastics in your sundry items like toothbrushes can cut down on plastics that end up in the landfill or our oceans and stream-ways. These bamboo toothbrushes are made with sustainably harvested bamboo handles, making them compostable! For folks who compost in their back yard, they must snip off the head of the brush first since the nylon is not compostable, but members of Food Cycle KC need not go through the trouble. Just “chuck it in the bucket”, and we’ll take care of the rest!
As an added benefit, all packaging is recyclable and compostable, and we deliver these toothbrushes straight to your door with your next weekly or biweekly composting service. Saving fuel. Saving packaging. Saving our environment.
From Eco Brush Earth:
Why Bamboo:
- Bamboo is the worlds fastest naturally renewing resource.
- Inherently it is antimicrobial, anti-fungal and odor resistant.
- There are more than 1000 species of bamboo on this planet of which Pandas only consume 30 – 40
- We use one of the many species pandas do not consume to craft our brushes & alternatives.
